The following is a summary of the meeting on September 24:

Standard Agenda Items:

Guests:
Jeff Schulman, incoming LTG was Candy's guest
Beverly Doyle was George's guest
Alberta Lee was Don Sadler's guest
Anita Ebling was Chet's guest
Millie Hughes, a prospective member, was new members Chuck Wolfe's guest

Announcements:
1. Thanks to George Doyle, Dave Beery, Brian Ulrey, and Don Sadler for attending the Division II meeting last Tuesday in Coldwater.
2. Thanks to Heather Patterson, son Evan, and husband Aaron who cooked the hot dogs on the grill, and Bob Day for volunteering at New Life Church International's soup kitchen last Saturday. 57 meals were served including seven children.
3. The K-Kids of Independence will be meeting Friday at 7:00 AM. Location cafeteria. More than 50 students expressed an interest last Spring.
4. Peanut Day to benefit the Ron Richards Fund will be Saturday at the Chief, Eastgate. Dave Beery has the schedule.
5. The Lima Evening Kiwanis will be meeting on October 1 at 5:30 PM. Location UNOH cafeteria.
6. The Marimore BBQ will be on Thursday October 3.Time 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Drive through only. Delivery to businesses with a minimum order. See Kristen Miller for tickets.

Committees:
1. Larry Bueter reported that most BBQ ticket money has been turned in.
2. Bev Beery reported that the club is about 1/2 way to its goal of $33,000 for Project Eliminate. There is money for one Hixson the the savings account and a Hixson will be awarded next week The football"winners" were Bob Newland and Bob Day as Ohio State scored 72 points against an over matched team from Florida A & M.

October 1-Candy Newland, business meeting.
October 8-Robert Day, John Carnes of the Allen County Museum, The Sarber-Dillinger Story.
October 15-Robert Day, Amy Weichart-Bayliff of CASA.
October 22-Candy Newland,business meeting.
October 29-Bill Cronk Pastor Appreciation Day. The speakers will be Dancie Mohler from Area Agency 3 and Rhonda Davission a registered dietician also from Area Agency 3.  They will speak about A Healthier You,specifically focusing on diabetes and falls prevention. 
New Member Induction:
Paul Brown inducted Chuck Wolfe as our new member. He was sponsored by Bev Beery, although Candy Newland and Heather Patterson helped. Chuck is the Executive Director of Family Promise. He was a member of our club sometime ago. He also was a member and president of the Worthington club.


Officer/Director Installation;
Jeff Schulman installed Bev Beery as a director filling in the term of Jonathan Littler.
Jeff Schulman awarded George his Past President' pin.
Jeff Schulman installed Ginny German as secretary ( in absentia )
Jeff Schulman installed Robert Day as treasurer.
Jeff Schulman installed Robbie Brown as vice-president.
Jeff Schulman installed Candy Newland as president.

Awards:
Bob Day awarded Paul Brown the "lap the Field" award as Paul sold 110 tickets to the latest BBQ, which was more than double the 53 sold by Bob Day.

Bob Day awarded Crystal Miller the "Rookie of the Year" at the K-Kids of Heritage as she sold the most BBQ tickets for a new member in 2012-2013.

Jeff Schulman presented a proclamation to the club by the Kiwanis Club of Ada in recognition of the Lima Club hosting a very successful District convention. Accepting the ward wee Bev and Candy as co-chairs and Bob D. as the force behind Lima's being awarded the convention.

George presented Candy with her 25 year Legion of Honor. She originally joined Kiwanis in Bradford, Pennsylvania on September 30, 1988 and was one of the three Candys in that club.

Candy presented George with his plaque recognizing his year as president.

Candy thanked individual members for their contributions to the club.
